Daily Routine


Verbs are a priority when you are learning to talk about daily routine in French, as is telling the time.
Study the list of verbs below for talking about daily activities.


Time in French:
Quelle heure est-il?  
What time is it?
Il est …  
It is
Il est sept heures    It is 7 o’clock
Que fais-tu à sept heures?
What do you do at 7 o’clock?

AT + the hour:   
à
à une heure  =  at one o’clock
Quarter past:   et quart
une heure et quart   
=  1.15

Half past:   
et demi
une heure et demie  =  
1.30

Quarter to:   
moins le quart
deux heures moins le quart  
=  1.45
(two o’clock minus the quarter!)

Regular ER Verbs:
raconter   =  to tell
manger     =  to eat
jouer        =  to play
travailler  =  to work
préparer   =  to prepare
Reflexive Verbs:
(reflexive verbs have a reflexive pronoun)
se lever          =  to get up
s’habiller       =  to get dressed
se coucher      =  to go to bed
Irregular Verbs:
faire         =  to do
prendre    =  to take/have  (e.g. a bath)
aller          =  to go
rentrer     =  to return, go home
être          =  to be   
lire            =  to read
